This course aims to present IP networks, it follows on from RES module 301. It gives an overview of the different protocols used in the networks which make up the Internet
The module has both a theoretical and a more practical content. The classes cover the fundamental principles of the TCP/IP environment and the Internet model. The functioning and architecture of an IP network is studied. The more practical aspects covered in lab work enable students to learn the necessary bases for the setting up and utilisation of an IP network.
Objectives
To have a clear understanding of the problem of adressing.
To understand how a transport protocol like TCP works.
To acquire the fundamentals on the deployement of an IP network.
To understand the basic principles of IP routing.
