F2B401C: Advanced security concepts

Coordinator:

Presentation

Security in computer systems and network transactions is crucial for the development of personal or commercial applications on the internet or simply for the protection of the intellectual capital of firms. Although we see numerous articles about this in the media today it is not a new problem and does not only concern the internet. It concerns any network at machine, exploitation system or application level.
Viruses, trojan horses are well known to administrators, hidden channels are less well known. Attack techniques are numerous security techniques too. They all have advantages and drawbacks.
This course will show the different aspects of security in a distributed computer environment together with aspects of basic encoding.
