Presentation

This course focuses at complexity of risk evaluation and risk management inside the company. It is based on the comprehension of three interconnected concepts:
· The observation and analysis of situation of danger. This is analysed through rigorous theoretical and methodological approaches illustrated by the study of real case and catastrophic situations.
· The description of the knowledge and fundamental methods required: sharing of responsibility, risk analysis, assessment and management, rules, etc.
· The analysis of the necessity to obtains a global view of the domain.

This course was originated by work and research on the GET schools. It relies on experience of real case studies. Risk management reveals itself as a very complex field, requiring rigorous methods and fundaments.

Prerequisites

It does not require any specific pre-required at a scientific master level. A written document and a bibliography are provided

Objectives

Teaching proceeds in a blocked period of three and half days. It includes lectures, case studies, and exercises. The structure of the course is as follows: ·

Content

· Day 1: "The company and risk". The course begins with an introduction to the risk management inside the company. A short historical explains the evolution of the risk management starting from the industrial age until today. Two great industrial catastrophes are then studied in order to sensitize the students with the multiple components of the risk. The day ends with a synthesis which resumes the principal acquired knowledge of the course (steps and concepts).

· Day 2: "Methods for the risk analysis". The second day begins by a concrete case, studying a problem of prevention of the risks. It continues with the presentation of the theoretical and methodological fundamental aspects of the risk management in the industrial systems (historical background, definitions, presentation of the various approaches). The principal methods of study and calculation (risk analyzes, AMDEC, fault and causal trees¿) are presented.

· Day 3: "Methods training". This day is devoted to a case study devoted on a practical application and a complete analysis of risk prevention inside a factory site (agro-alimentary). The day ends in a synthesis which out lights the main knowledge basis acquired from the presentation.

· Day 4 (1/2 day): "Man in the organization". The fourth day is focused on the human and organisational aspects of the risk management.
